About Us

At Old River Candle Co., we believe self-care should feel natural, intentional, and (let’s be honest) a little indulgent.

We’re Tammy and Alyssa — a mother-daughter team turning candle wax, bath magic, and good vibes into handcrafted self-care staples. What started as a tribute to our cousin Shannon’s legendary candle-making skills has grown into a business that blends wellness, sustainability, and family with a bit of “did we just become your new favorite brand?” energy.

So, who are we?

Tammy (the mom)
Creative spirit. Quiet Powerhouse. Full-time HVAC boss lady.
Tammy runs on love, late-night design tweaks, and a glass of Pinot Grigio in hand while cooking. She's got a knack for all things cozy, and after recovering from two major spinal surgeries, she's now walking the walk when it comes to self-care — with her yoga-teacher daughter (read: in-house wellness coach) cheering her on. She’s happiest when traveling, taking beautiful photos, spending time with family and her circle of girlfriends, or binging a good book or Netflix series from the comfort of her candle-lit couch.

Alyssa (the daughter)
Certified yoga teacher. Bartender. Candle-pourer. Schedule juggler.
Alyssa started in hot yoga studios, and has since branched out: prenatal yoga, kids’ classes in Montessori schools, and most recently therapeutic sessions for autistic and behaviorally challenged youth. She also bartends at the Rogers Centre during Jays season, serves up style at a catering company throughout the year, and fills in with the family HVAC business whenever she’s needed. When she's not teaching, pouring, or shaking up cocktails, you’ll find her exploring the world with her boyfriend, working out at the gym, cooking up something delicious, or hanging with her four-legged bestie, Theo.
